John Shiffman is a Washington-based enterprise correspondent for Reuters. He worked as a staff writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer from 2003 to 2011, where he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting in 2009 with colleagues. He has won numerous other honors, including the Thurgood Marshall Journalism Award. He also worked for the The News-Press in Fort Myers and The Tennessean in Nashville. In the mid-1990s, he was Associate Director of the White House Fellows program. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, and earned a master's degree in journalism and a law degree from American University in Washington. His next book, Operation Shakespeare, about a Homeland Security sting against an Iranian arms broker, is to be published in 2012 by Simon & Schuster.
